Wash pecans in a colander with cold water. Shake the colander.
Line cookie sheet with heavy duty foil.
Bake the pecans for 35 minutes in a preheated 250ºF oven.
Stir. Bake for another 35 minutes.
Dot with 1/2 stick of butter, stir until melted, and the pecans coated.
Sprinkle with salt.
Return to the oven for 5 minutes.
Remove pecans from the pan on about 3 thicknesses of paper towel and one on top.
